India ranks third after China and USA in recording natural disasters. Weather related disasters have increased over the past 50 years and nearly 6800 natural disasters are occurring every year in the world which kills nearly 60000 people per year. The GOI under NDMA developed policies and plans to prevent manage and overcome the extreme events in order to bring harmony and resilience among farming community. About the Author: Dr. M. Meyyappan obtained his B.Sc (Ag.) M.Sc (Ag.) Agronomy with First Rank and Ph.D from Annamalai University. He is working at Annamalai University as Associate Professor having more than 22 years of teaching and Research experience and teaches Diploma graduate postgraduate and Ph.D students. He guided ten M.Sc (Ag.) Agronomy students. He participated and presented papers in 49 National and International conferences and published 43 Research papers in various National and International journals and conference proceedings. He organised one National Seminar and one Internnational Webinar.
