This extraordinary literary work reveals the complexities of lives of ordinary people. The tales are of successes and failures hopes and dreams love deceit betrayal and murder. In Discourse Irwin L. Hinds finds a forum to discuss what negatively impacts individuals of African descent and speculate on what can be done to alleviate the problems. One major concern is the under representation of black men in colleges in general as compared to the representation in sports. The book chronicles the reunion of two friends Oslo and Denny who seize every opportunity to discuss the problems. Further Denny's romantic involvement with Claris a former pupil of his resulted in an attempt on his life by Claris' husband Prince a renowned drug dealer. In that attempt a bomb supposedly intended for Denny took the life of his fatherÕs best friend Tejan.
