Diseases of Domestic Rabbits and Associated Risk Factors in Kenya

Rabbits grow quickly mature early and produce highly nutritious meat. There exists high potential for commercial rabbit farming in the tropics.However domestic rabbit production in the tropics is constrained by many factors including inadequate technical know-how on rabbit management and diseases. This book provides research findings on diseases commonly reported in domestic rabbits by smallholder farmers in the tropical climate of Kenya. The causes and action taken to identify and manage these diseases are outlined. Success and challenges in disease prevention methods used locally are compared and discussed in details. The information provided on rabbit farming methods and management practices including; feeding housing and breeds used in the tropics are useful for rabbit farmers and veterinarians.
