About The Book

Behaviour is considered to be abnormal when it is undesirable which is a typical and leads to impairment in the individual’s adaptability. Such undesirable deviant behavioural patterns are scary and mystery from the very beginning of civilization. People call it abnormal. If you talk to people around and try to explore the term ‘Abnormal’ among masses you will see that most people have vague idea about it. It is characterised by superstition ignorance and fear. There is a major stigma attached to mental illness and therefore people are hesitant to consult doctors and psychologists. From the very beginning people associated abnormality with individual’s bad deeds and sin. Because of this association mental disorders have become a stigma. Most people developed negative attitude towards mental health issues. Even today the researchers in clinical field could not establish specific cause of most of the disorders. Psychiatrist and clinical psychologist mostly manage the disorders. Therefore the patients as well as the caregivers are not much enthusiastic in mental healthcare. Success is the best motivator and failure leads to aversion. Why are state governments central government and policymakers not putting their hundred percent to develop an effective infrastructure for mental healthcare? Everyone knows that mental health is supreme still the progress in mental health domain is very slow. This is the third question which surprises me. I think the answer lies in the nature of mental illness. Mostly mental illnesses make the life of patients and caregivers very difficult but they do not lead to death. Like pollution stress is a serious issue. Both are silent killers but the impact is gradual slow not a threat for life immediately therefore they are ignored. Due to some reason care of mental illnesses is postponed or ignored. These thoughts disturb me. Being the author of this book I got an opportunity to share them with you all. The responses to these thoughts
