<p>After his Senior Cambridge examinations in December 1962 following the footsteps of his father Shagor Ray (better known as Shaggy) wanted to train for the Defence Services. He was denied entry to the National Defence Academy. With the Cambridge grades that he managed in different subjects Shagor had a very limited choice of career. It was going to be a shot in the dark.
