After the independence of India Dalits got the right to represent their society in the Parliament and Legislative Assemblies of India due to the struggles of the great hero of the twentieth century the symbol of Dalit freedom Vishwa Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. But this right given by the Poona Pact has become a mere means of making Dalits political slaves.It is a historical fact that due to the struggles of Vishwa Ratna Baba Saheb the British Government agreed to implement a law called Communal Award in India on the demand of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar after much deliberation and several round table conferences. Under this Dalits were given the right of two votes to choose their representative.
