Down River

The stories in Down River were collected in the 1950s and 60s by Nonie Creaghan whose family has lived in the area for generations. The Miramichi River winds its way through a beautiful valley and flows into a bay of the same name. In Down River we meet four local children and learn about their lives and dreams the magic of their natural environment and the creatures that surround them. Life on the river has changed since these stories were written but the flavour of the land remains the same.
