DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR: Unique Role In The Making of Modern India

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is remembered in Indian history as the principal architect of the unique Constitution of India a great social reformer an emancipator of the downtrodden masses a valiant champion of human rights devoted his whole life to the destruction of the caste[1]ridden social order and awakening the social conscience of modern India. As he was born in an untouchable caste he was humiliated every step by way from childhood to youth. Throughout his life he was hated and discriminated against because of his caste. Dr. Ambedkar beats all odds in securing the highest and the most respectable academic qualifications MA and Ph.D. degrees from world famous Columbia university USA Doctor of Science (DSc) from the prestigious London school of Economics (the first Indian to secure DSc from London school of Economics) Barrister in Law from England and studied in Bonn University Germany. None of his contemporaries match him in academic qualifications and intellectual brilliance. No other mass leader in India has ever produced anywhere close to the astonishing voluminous writings as Dr. Ambedkar did. No other mass leader in India has written and published hundreds of articles in Marathi and English on a wide range of subjects. One cannot imagine that he produced the magnitude of the books and articles while fully engaged in politics Legislator Minister in the Viceroy’s Executive Council Union Minister and drafting the Constitution of India amidst his failing health. He delivered more than 550 speeches on a wide range of subjects in diverse regional national and international forums.
