Back in England, Harker's wife Mina experiences other strange happenings. Her friend Lucy suffers from an unknown illness and finally succumbs to it. Joined by Harker and the doctor Van Helsing, the group soon realizes that an ancient malevolent force has been awakened and it is in pursuit. Bram Stoker's Dracula , when it was published, was a chilling story that soon got translated into many languages. It instilled such fear into the hearts of the public that there were instances when even grown men would not step outside of the house in the dark.
