Dream Stories

Agnes Frome (1887-1932) wrote in a gentle magic realist form she called the Dream Story in which elements of the fantastical and surreal intertwine with the everyday life of the child protagonists. She tells of a boy who one night climbs into an oil painting on the nursery wall to feed a horse with a green nose; a girl who stumbles upon a hidden kingdom of Arthur and his court in fog-bound London; a mysterious ragman who visits the present each day to take old clothes back to a land at the beginning of time.
