The Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza is the largest state government office complex in the United States. It took over ten years to build at a cost of over two-billion 1960s dollars. The project was conceived and started by Governor Rockefeller with the state legislature seemingly helpless to reign in the scope and costs. Criticized by some as big government spending gone awry it nonetheless kept thousands of union tradesmen working for well over a decade. One of those legislators concerned about the growing project pursues her own pathway to the state's highest office.Among those working on the project is a family of carpenters from northern New York who join thousands of other tradesmen from all over the state to make this big dream a reality.This is a fictionalized account of the ups and downs of a blue collar family a Republican Governor and a Democrat legislator on her way up.
