About The Book

<p><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>Geraldine Moorkens Byrne is an award winning poet and writer from Dublin Ireland.</span></p><p><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>Her work has been published in a variety of magazines anthologies Ezines and print publications. Several of her poems have been performed as drama pieces in the Uk Ireland and the USA. She is a founding editor of the PPP poetry collective and she has edited several poetry collections.</span></p><p><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>She has also written and published short stories and several mystery novels including The Caroline Jordan Mystery Series and The Old Bat Chronicles (writing as Nina Hayes.) This is her first full collection of her own poetic work spanning forty years of writing and publishing.</span></p><p><br></p><p><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>As a poet she is inspired by the heritage and landscape of Ireland the literary and poetic forms of Old Irish and the long political and satirical tradition of the Filí. This collection is divided into several parts reflecting the wide interest of the poet. </span><strong style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>At the Gate</strong><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)> (a reference to the ancient Irish tradition of fasting against an injustice) deals with the poetry of politics and justice. </span><strong style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>In the Grove</strong><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)> contains the poetry of spirit and philosophy. </span><strong style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>By the Fireside</strong><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)> showcases the poetry of love and personal life.</span></p><p><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>The final section</span><strong style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)> Beside Manners</strong><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)> contains a series of poems written to express the grief and concerns of family carers for those with Alzheimer's and Dementia.</span></p>
