Drones & Counter- Drone Systems

Drones and loitering munitions have undeniably claimed their place in military arsenals. In the future the adversary’s military forces will not automatically have total control of the air at all times and will have to face threats from a variety of drones. Though earlier drones were used extensively for surveillance and reconnaissance role it has lately found increased role in armed conflict using innovative tactics thanks to the advances in Artificial Intelligence MachineLearning and highspeed onboard computing. Drones are a cheap accessible flexible expendable and offer a plausible deniable way to carry out armed attacks and project enormous power over a variety of civilian and wartime environments. As a result of the proliferation of drone technology the rise of Counter Drone technology is primarily tied to the novel threats posed by them. The counterdrone systems will inevitably become a ubiquitous weapon in all future conflicts and will need to be flexible enough to detect and neutralise drones that can come in various shapes and sizes. The ideal ‘endstate’ of this evolution is the development of accurate detection and mitigation systems which can identify and classify the threat as soon as it appears then automatically selects the most effective mitigation measures.
