This book deals with a major issue in the field of rehabilitation medicine that is how to improve injured patients' gait. The book is well organized starting with normal gait and the implications of Drop-Foot on walking performance especially among stroke and MS patients. Then the author surveys the different therapeutic approaches including the more sophisticated one with FES technique. Following the theoretical background a detailed description of the study is provided. The uniqueness of this study lies in its design where the laboratory conditions mimicked out-door conditions such as even versus uneven ground as opposed to other studies that have looked at in-door conditions. Surprisingly the FES apparatus impacted more on the walking performance outdoor than indoor. The very idea of using a laboratory setting to mimic the real life world looks very attractive as it reflects the fundamentals of rehabilitation medicine.
