Drought classification and economic loss assessment

Vietnam is one of these countries most heavily affected by climate change. In this context extreme hydro-meteorological phenomena are tending to increase in intensity frequency and spatial and temporal anomalies. This book provides an insight into the drought classification and economic damage of drought in the Central region in Vietnam. Drought classification maps were established based on a combination of meteorological drought indices a hydrological model a hydrology drought index and a Geographic Information System (GIS) tool. Drought not only causes direct losses but also has long-term economic impacts along with health effects on the people. Drought management requires financial resources. This book also discusses financial solutions for drought in particular and climate change in Vietnam in general.
