Drug abuse and addiction among youth

The current study aims at knowing the causes and the psychological and sociological factors that lead to drug abuse and addiction among young people in the wilaya of Laghouat in Algeria and in order to achieve this objective a questionnaire that included 65 items was constructed. The sample size reached 150 individuals and the results showed that there are a number of psychological factors that lead individuals to drug abuse and addiction the most important of which are: the desire to have fun and forget worries to escape from problems and the feeling of persecution in addition to other sociological factors related to family friends the drug substance and school.
