Dynamic Line Rating Implementation as an Approach to handle Wind Power
English

About The Book

The project is mainly focused on connecting the wind power in a 130 kV sub-transmission grid finding the load current and static and dynamic line ampacities of a highly stressed overhead transmission line conductor in the sub-transmission network. In this research work two case studies are taken into account. First case study is related to analyzing an impact of wind power generation and the monthly net power demand on loading of the overhead conductor (VL3) with consideration of ampacity upgrading techniques whereas the second one is related to their economic analysis. Furthermore based on economic study results the DLR method is proved an economical solution in place of costly conventional line upgrading techniques i.e. from this study it is observed that for transferring 1 GWh energy flow with the help of DLR approach gives 107 % more profit as compared to its flow based on conductor upgrading technique and 222% more profit than based on new line construction. Similarly it is also observed that a temporary delay in line replacement or a new line construction may yield significant savings.
