Early Detection and Classification of Melanoma Skin Cancer

Incident rates of melanoma skin cancer have been rising since last two decades. So early fast and effective detection of melanoma skin cancer is one of the highest healing rates for most cases; in addition the treatment in early stage is perfectly easy and involves excision of the lesion from skin only. Moreover at an early stage treatment cost of melanoma skin cancer is very economical while at a late stage the cost associated with the necessary treatments is higher because of the serious consequences that caused the cancerous lesion. For these reasons and others we presented in this work the methods for building a system for detection and classification of melanoma skin cancer in early stage by using image processing techniques to help the doctors and patients in the diagnosis of early malignant melanoma by providing better and more reliable results.
