Eco-friendly management of Myzus persicae (Sulzer) on potato crop

About The Book

The study on the eco-friendly management of aphid Myzus persicae (Sulzer) on potato crop was conducted at Central Potato Research Institute Campus Modipuram Meerut Uttar Pradesh. The results on the distribution pattern of aphid within the plants revealed that maximum numbers of aphids were found congregating on lower leaf followed by on middle leaf whereas minimum aphids were found feeding on upper leaf. Results revealed that efficacy of insecticides and fungi against M. persicae were tested . A single foliar spray of imidacloprid prove to be more toxic and checked the population crossing the critical level up to 21 days. Ethofenprox was the second best that kept the aphids below the critical level up to 14 days.. Oxy demeton methyl and fenpropathrin were effective up to 7 days. Acephate and cartaphydrochloride were found to be least effective. The fungus Beauveria bassiana was more efficient which suppress the population of aphid ranging from 55.5 to 71.6% as compared to Metarhizium anisopliae (44 to 61.6%). On the basis of the findings imidacloprid (35.6 g. a.i./ha.) ethofenprox (50 g. a.i./ha.) & Beauveria bassiana (5x1010 conidia/ml) is recommended in potato crop.
