India has a rich heritage of knowledge on medicinal and aromatics plant both for use in preventive as well as in curative medicine. This is largely due to various climatic and edaphic factors conducive to the growth and diversity of plants. In fact in this mountainous region traditional exploration of medicinal and aromatic plants has its roots in the remote past. The thesis is compiled into six chapters. Chapter one (1) presents general introduction and focuses on the degradation and conservation practices in Garhwal Himalaya aim and objectives of the study. Chapter two (2) reviews the work done at regional national and international level pertaining to various aspects of the present study Chapter three-(3) described the study area its physiography and meteorological aspects Chapter (4) present the detailed of methodology and various procedure adopted. The result and observation are given in chapter 5 its comprises of five parts. The first part describes the soil status its physical and chemical features its impacts on vegetation structure. The second part highlights the floristic diversity of the study area and Discussion constitutes Chapter six (6).
