Economic Reforms in India:

The impact of Twenty Years of Economic Reforms has shown a mixed response. Some sectors of the economy particularly service sector and a very few sections of the society have benefited out of it. But the majority of the populations those who depend on agriculture as their way of life have been adversely affected. At this juncture the achievements and challenges of Twenty Years of Economic Reforms need to be analyzed threadbare with a focus on the New Economic Policy and the WTO’s policies. Keeping the above key and important issues in the background the Department of Economics of Gandhigram Rural Institute – Deemed University proposed to organize an ICSSR sponsored two-day National Seminar on “Twenty Years of Economic Re­forms in India : Achievements and Challenges”.The papers presented in the seminar are edited as book entitled “Economic Re­forms in India: Achievements and Challenges”.
