There was a consistent stagnation in some parts of Indian Economy till1991. But after adoption of New Economic Reforms some stagnated partsexperienced robust growth but some still lagged behind such as povertyemployment population living standard price stability agriculture etc.Moreover the New Economic Reforms accelerated the pace of economicdisparity and regional imbalance more profoundly. In such scenario it is verymuch necessary to study Indian economy as a whole before and after 1991.In this respect the framers of this syllabus have kept a great vision regardingknowledge and inquisitiveness among students.
