The DRC has nearly 80 million hectares of arable land 4 million irrigable land its hot and humid climate is characterized by high rainfall sometimes reaching up to 2000 m a year in the basin. In addition the DRC depends on the import of basic food products to feed its population. The paradox ! However it is possible to change this situation by working together (Government and actors in the agricultural value chain) for the rehabilitation and development of agriculture in the DRC.Poverty hunger and inequality can strike anywhere but they are concentrated in rural areas where most of the world''s people live. When we announced the confinement during this period of the global health crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic none of us rushed to buy gold a car or even a phone but we are all rushed to buy rice wheat milk and vegetables etc. Investing in smallholder agriculture and inclusive rural development is essential in the fight against hunger and poverty.
