Edge Computing for Internet of Things

Computing faces a dilemma between speed and scale. While the cloud offers immense computing power and storage transferring data to and from the cloud takes time. To overcome this challenge edge computing brings the capabilities of the cloud closer to the devices generating the data. By moving data computation and management from the cloud to the edge edge computing addresses the limitations of cloud computing in supporting context-aware and time-sensitive services in the Internet of Things (ToT) era.However there are still numerous challenges that need to be addressed to fully realize the potential of edge computing. These challenges include efficient distribution and management of data storage and computing seamless collaboration between edge computing and cloud computing for increased scalability and ensuring the security of the entire system.The focus of this book is to tackle the problems in edge computing and IoT technologies taking into account the emerging challenges and opportunities in state-of-the-art communication and computing technologies.
