This study analyses the treatment of cultural journalism in the traditional media in Ecuador. It contextualizes terms on culture communication cultural journalism and education taking as reference bibliographical and field material through the monitoring of five media (public and private). It concludes that the media generally publish cultural articles in response to the provisions of the Organic Law on Communication in this area and that the few that do not do so do not reach the public with their productions which shows the role they assume in the full exercise of responsible cultural journalism that takes into account the country''s cultural diversity from the perspective of promoting the quality of information and the integration and participation of its protagonists. It is not well directed. Therefore it is necessary to reflect on the real role that the media is assuming in globalization. In this way the importance of the good use of cultural journalism in Ecuador based on education and communication is highlighted.
