Effect of ERP on the Role of Financial Accountants in Sri Lanka

In the concurrent business environment many of the business organizations have adopted Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) with the objective of enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of their overall operations. The implementation of an ERP system facilitates the integration of different business functions which provides valuable information for decision makers. It is widely argued that ERP has replaced the Accountant however in reality the role of the accountant has changed in terms of diverse operations performed by an accountant. This research paper is mainly focused on identifying how ERP has affected the role of Financial Accountant in terms of differing operations performed by the accountant in Sri Lankan context.
