Effect of Hydroponic Technology on Spinach Production

About The Book

The study is an investigation into the effects of hydroponic technology on spinach production for income generation by agricultural education graduates in Benue State. The design of the study is experimental design. Four research questions guided the study with three null hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study was 100 Spinach crop plants with sample size of 66 crop plants randomly selected from three replicates of hydroponic and indigenous technology 11 crop plants per replicate per treatment. The null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using t-test. It was found out in the study that hydroponic technology has a more positive effect on the growth maturity yield and cost benefit while the indigenous technology has more positive effect on the re-growth of spinach. The result of the null hypothesis tested showed that there was significant difference in the mean rating of the responses of indigenous and hydroponic technology on spinach. Based on these findings it was recommended among others that the skills in hydroponic technology for spinach production be packaged into a training manual for workshops seminars for teachers.
