South Sudan is endowed by natural resources including forestry minerals oil fertile land livestock and many others. In addition to all these resources the country continues to import food commodities from the neighboring countries including animal products. With increasing population especially in major towns there is a high demand for meat milk and other animal products. As such the local livestock breeds cannot fulfill this market request due to their low productivity and lack of adequate pasture throughout the year. This book therefore analyses the major factors affecting the low production and productivity of the indigenous breeds.
