Effect of land configuration and integrated nutrient management

About The Book

Among different land configuration practices the ridge and furrow method proved significantly superior in terms of growth and productivity of pigeon pea. This treatment registered the highest productivity of pegionpea and subsequently fetched the highest net returns. Similarly among different integrated nutrient management practices the application of 50% of the recommended dose of fertilizers along with 2.5 t ha-1 of vermicompost is significantly superior in enhancing the productivity and profitability of pegionpea and improving the soil fertility. Thus on the basis of two years of experimentation it may be concluded that the application of 50% of the recommended dose of fertilizers along with 2.5 t ha-1 of vermicompost with the ridge and furrow method of sowing is a more scientific method for management of resources in pegionpea crop and resulted superior in terms of productivity profitability and sustainability of pegionpea crop compared to flatbed sowing with the blanket application of sub-optimal doses of inorganic fertilizers.
