Appropriate intra-spacing and good variety are essential for increased crop production; however many farmers use improper spacing and traditional variety. An alternative way of obtaining high yield for maize plant is to use the recommended spacing and improved seed. Many people consider high population density of plant as important it contains many plant but when the yield is low. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of variety and intra-row spacing on growth and yield of maize. The spacing and varieties that are compared in this study were Nyirakagoli(V1) Kigega(V2) and Tamira(V3) all plant in intra-row spacing of 20(R1)25(R2) and 30(R3) cm. The experimental design was Complete Randomized Bloc Design (CRBD) with 3 replications and 9 treatments. The study area was found in Kabare farm located in Kabare Sector Kayonza District the plant tested was maize (Nyirakagoli Kigega and Tamira).
