Effectiveness of Chewing Stick among Berom Tribe of Plateau State

This research work is intended to proffer alternative solution to numerous dental ailments. It is observed that incidence of dental ailment is rare among rural dwellers that use chewing sticks for oral hygiene and those individuals that combine chewing stick with bristle brush and paste. It is also aimed at knowing which plants and plant parts that are used for oral hygiene. It is also necessary to subject the identified plants to laboratory tests to establish the hidden properties that confer the action they perform. It will help to ensure that those plants are domesticated rather the depending on the wild. The extract from the plants can also be incorporated to make herbal toothpaste.
