Effects of Local Anaesthesia with Adrenaline on Blood Pressure

About The Book

There are still controversies regarding the haemodynamic effects of vasoconstrictor containing local anaesthetics during minor oral surgical procedures. While many authors have suggested that the adrenaline contained in Dental local anesthetics can increase blood pressure others have proven that it does not cause a significant rise in blood pressure. Furthermore the prevalence of hypertension in patients with oral diseases is increasing in Nigeria which indirectly means that many hypertensive patients will require dental procedures which are done under local anesthesia. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of vasoconstrictor contained in Dental local anesthetics on blood pressure of treated patients. This is to improve the quality of care given to our patients.
