For hundreds of years the search for credible solutions to employers' quest to get the most from their employees gave rise to research interest in employees' motivation. In an attempt to understand the concept of employees’ motivation several researchers propounded a plethora of motivation theories. However the common denominator of most motivation theories appears to be that employees' behaviours can be influenced if they are offered certain rewards which hold enough value to them. Thus rewards in all its forms have been used by different organizations for hundreds of years to influence employees’ behaviours and enhance their performances. Relevant literatures on rewards motivation and performance were reviewed in order to ascertain how organizations have used rewards to influence employees' behaviours and motivate them towards enhanced performance. This study has satisfied the objectives it set out to achieve as it has established a positive relationship between employees rewards and employees motivation and performance. The findings from this research work have made significant contributions to the body of knowledge on employees’ rewards motivation and performance.
