Efficiency Of Light Shelves According To Latitudes In Office Buildings
English

About The Book

Light shelf is one of the improved daylight guiding system that helps to increase the illuminance quantity within desired levels and contribute energy saving by using daylight effective. Latitude is one of the main determinative of light shelf efficiency. The effect of different latitudes to the light shelf efficiency is explored on a sample office unit for different heights in this study. Consequently it is determined that the light shelf increases the desired daylight levels in all latitudes for different office heights. The light shelf efficiency generally diminishes with increasing of office heights between 0°-15° latitudes and increases with increasing of office heights between 30°-75° latitudes. In addition to that the distribution of daylight levels are analyzed in plan views and results are presented to the designers interested in daylight efficient design. The results are significant to identify the effect of light shelf to the desired daylight levels on different latitudes for different office heights. Also the methodology used in this study to determine the suitable light shelf placement and efficiency could be considered for a random building on a random latitude.
