Ekkehard: A Tale of the Tenth Century. Vol. 1 (of 2)

Set in the 10th century Ekkehard transports readers to the medieval world of the Abbey of St. Gall in present-day Switzerland. The story follows the titular character Ekkehard a scholarly monk who serves as the librarian of the abbey. Ekkehard is dedicated to his studies and to the preservation of knowledge finding solace and purpose in the quiet halls of the monastery. However Ekkehard's peaceful existence is disrupted when the abbey's Abbess Hadwig invites the dashing and charismatic Duke of Swabia Otto to visit. Otto's arrival brings excitement and turmoil to the abbey as his presence ignites passions and stirs up long-buried desires among the residents.
