Public organizations have now produced and create most of their documents and records electronically. These records need to be managed efficiently and effectively according to the widely accepted standards. Well-managed records could give untold benefits to organizations hence help organizations remain competitive. The management of electronic records ought to be guided by a policy which serve as a roadmap in implementing the initiative. In writing this book we have aimed to determine whether any policy exists in Libyan public institutions for the creation and management of electronic records and to determine whether electronic records management strategies are in place without any difficulties. This book provides an overview of the important issues of managing electronic records. It discusses in detail ongoing developments in Libya in the areas of electronic records and highlights the obstacles of managing electronic records. Furthermore it addresses the essential elements required for successful implementation of electronic records management in public institutions.
