The tribute in this volume is to Eliane Potiguara a precursor of the struggle for the rights of indigenous women and of the indigenous literature movement. Eliane was the founder of Grumin (Indigenous Women's Group) the first indigenous women's institution in Brazil back in the 1980s and later in the 1990s an indigenous rights consultant to the UN.
