Emily Fox-Seton

The story follows the life of Emily Fox-Seton a gentle and kind-hearted woman who works as a companion to wealthy and aristocratic women in late 19th century England. Despite her humble beginnings Emily is much loved and respected by her employers and friends for her intelligence wit and kindness. She is particularly close to Lady Maria Bayne a wealthy and benevolent woman who takes an interest in Emily and helps her in many ways. Emilys life takes a dramatic turn when she meets Lord Walderhurst a wealthy and eligible bachelor who falls in love with her and proposes marriage. Though initially reluctant to marry for money Emily eventually agrees to the proposal believing that she can use her new position to do good in the world and help those in need.
