Austen is best known for her witty sarcastic but hilarious remarks on societal prejudices. Emma Woodhouse the titular protagonist is spoilt but reasonably brilliant. Emma herself is a unique creation a self-confident girl who just hasn't had the opportunity to learn about the reality of the world but when she does she grows into a headstrong mature woman. Emma is structured around marriages and the social status of the families involved; how the proposed marriage can solidify their social status. The agony of the poverty-stricken and the foolish beliefs of the wealthy. Emma is a wonderful journey full of satire lively realistic characters and beautiful descriptions of a tiny English town.
