The objective of this doctoral research is to analyze the relationship between emotional well-being academic performance and school dropout in students who are victims of the internal armed conflict in Colombia specifically in the municipality of Tarqui Huila. It seeks to understand how the conflict affects the emotional intelligence and academic performance of children and adolescents and it is expected to find a positive correlation between both variables. The study employs a mixed methodology combining quantitative and qualitative methods with a descriptive non-experimental correlational and cross-sectional design. The sample will include 35 students between 11 and 16 years of age evaluated by means of the TMMS-24 test for emotional intelligence and school average in fundamental areas for academic performance. In addition a protocol for detecting emotional problems and an intervention program to strengthen students' emotional intelligence is proposed highlighting the role of the teacher as a social agent in this context. It is expected to find low academic performance and low levels of emotional intelligence in the sample which will allow designing support and improvement strategies.
