About The Book

With the global increase of energy prices and the demand for energyindustries should be encouraged to save energy and use alternative means of energy resources. Energy savings do not necessarily need to start with heavy investments but through changes of procedure and workers behaviour. Energy management and audits should be treated in the same way the companies prioritizes production and sales. The companies should have a well-defined energy policy which is motivating to the employees and contributes to the achievements of organizational goals. The authors have investigated Energy Efficiency and barriers in motor vehicle assembly plants. The book presents a case study of a vehicle assembly plant in Kenya. The case was achieved by estimating the amount and cost of energy used in various sections of the plants and pieces of equipment. The study was able to estimate the energy used and lost from specific machines. This study considered various types of energy in contrast to other studies which concentrate on electrical energy only. Welding machines and fans are the major consumers of electrical energy while burners and the stand-by generator are the major consumers of fuel.
