English Language for Intermediate Learners

About The Book

This book is a giant step towards having a more standardized textbook in English Language for use by staff and students of English Language at the Institute. The book covers a large chunk of critical topics as spelt out in the official syllabus of the Institute:“GHANA INSTITUTE OF LANGUAGES DRAFT SYLLABUS-25 MAY 2009”. Given the organic nature of language and the resultant need to situate it all the time to suit the socio-economic needs of its users I have chosen topics meticulously to meet contemporary needs of our students. This is done whilst maintaining a healthy balance of students’ exposure to the Four Cardinal Skills of language: Listening Speaking Reading and Writing.Whilst I unequivocally admit the non-exhaustive status of this book in lieu of all the topics outlined in the 2009 syllabus I remain fulfilled in blazing the trail in this regard being wide awake of the fact that Rome was not built in a day. It is also worthy of note that this book is the product of intense research and its content is never wanting regarding authenticity and scholarliness.
