Enhancing the Efficiency of Solar System Using Mist Cooling System
English

About The Book

The efficiency of solar power plants both photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) systems is significantly influenced by operating temperatures. Elevated temperatures reduce the performance of PV modules and limit the energy conversion efficiency in CSP systems posing a challenge to optimal energy production. To address this innovative cooling strategies are being developed with mist cooling systems emerging as a promising solution. Mist cooling operates on the principle of evaporative cooling where fine water droplets are sprayed over or near solar panels or CSP components. The heat absorbed during water evaporation lowers the surface temperature mitigating efficiency losses and thermal stress. This technique enhances the energy yield of PV systems by maintaining optimal module temperatures while in CSP plants it improves the efficiency of heat exchangers and turbines. The implementation of mist cooling systems also reduces dependency on traditional cooling methods offering a more sustainable and energy-efficient alternative.
