The book was not planned as academic material. It is rather a vision of the themes that are involved in a business and a collection of day-to-day stories; they start from the time when one first attempts to begin the reflections that orient decision taking. A business concern’s thinking is not limited to finance and strategy; it must often face pressing questions that while very important are not directly related to finance. For example our chief executive our right hand man may have received a serious and very attractive proposal from our principal competitor; what to do? This could affect our competitiveness and may even endanger our very survival but it does not directly affect finance. The book also concerns the countries’ overall economic prospect.
