Environmental Education in Umbanda Centers in Imperatriz Maranhão

This book is the result of tireless and passionate research in the Umbanda terreiros of the city of Imperatriz MA. It deals with the author's perception of the feelings experienced by followers and frequenters of Umbanda in the face of prejudice and neglect by many who because they do not know the religion claim it to be something diabolical. It also reflects the struggle of these Umbanda practitioners to strengthen African culture and promote the health of their followers. It is through environmental education that Umbanda practitioners believe they can maintain the roots of their religion as Umbanda is based on the elements of nature from which they extract the basic principles for the production of baths potions and incense in the pursuit of physical and moral integrity for all of humanity.
