Environmental Issues in India

In the Post World War period environmental issues and challenges have become a key concern world wide and the subject matter of debate discussion and dialogue in academic as well as in political circles. As a result of seemingly well-thought out development the sustainable development man and nature relationship and ultimately the survival of mankind entered the phenomena of interrogation. With the dawn of globalization in the 90’s the problem became acute and the world encountered a massive criss-cross of multifarious theories and questions. Environment oriented propositions and ideologies laws and policies have engendered the concept of ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘pro-green’. Be it multilateral or bilateral talks in political arena or global summits and conferences environmental hazards and apprehensions have hit the bull’s eye and ‘Green management’ has become the buzzword resounding in the global village. Despite the laws and policies of environmental protection the scenario is still deplorable. Environmental crises need to be tackled with utmost sincerity irrespective of geographic boundaries and vested eco-political interests of the nations
