Environmental Media

About The Book

The mainstream media and communication technologies have popularized the environmental theme and massified the term sustainable development in the most different types of social spaces. However the environmental issue seems to be far from being consequently questioned; it is usually presented as a spectacle with sensationalist and catastrophist abhorrences fragmented in its relations and lacking in the social aspect. However the growth in the number of audiovisual messages that address specific environmental issues as well as the discursive mobilization promoted with the dissemination of socio-environmental problems in general may be an indication of the possibility of a new man/nature relationship where the environmental issue is addressed in its complexity. It is a systematic review of the literature on the theme in a more global analysis establishing a relation with the author''s media research experience in his doctoral thesis in Sociology of Communication.
