This book discusses the evaluation of the surveillance system for epizootic diseases in Niger: the case of avian influenza. The types of surveillance applied by the epidemiological surveillance network and the evaluation method developed by CDC based on attribute analysis and finally the usefulness of the animal disease surveillance system for public health.Avian influenza is a zoonotic disease under epidemiological surveillance in Niger. The 2006 episode led to the slaughter of 19199 birds with an estimated economic impact of around 20251344 CFA. In response the country adopted a national prevention and response plan. 16 outbreaks of HPAI were recorded in 2022 totalling 98520 deaths. The aim of this study is to evaluate the disease's epidemiological surveillance system in the Maradi region.
