Epidemiology of Bovine Leptospirosis

Leptospirosis is a re-emerging spirochaetal zoonotic disease. Present study was conducted to ascertain the seroprevalence of Leptospira infection in cattle among certain districts of lower Brahmaputra valley of Assam during March 2017 to February 2018. A total of 380 blood samples were collected randomly from both apparently healthy and clinically ill cattle from 10 districts of Assam irrespective of age sex and breed. Presence of the anti-leptospiral antibodies in the serum samples were detected by using two serological tests viz. IgG ELISA and Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT). The samples were subjected in order to screen the prevalence of Leptospira infection in cattle.
