There is always a moment for youth who became scientists when they experienced an epiphany--which usually resulted from an inspiration provided by an elder. That elder might be a teacher parent relative neighbor or friend--it doesn't matter just whom but it does matter whether it happens.Late in life Alexandra Jane Noble sought to catalyze this spirit of inspired contribution with an Awards program that honors science Communicators who make a difference. Some excel at building public awareness of science while others exhibit extraordinary scientific courage.
